This action is very pathetic and barbaric.

Islamic State has reiterated this heinous act and not learn the mistakes that have been made by Christians, Jews, Spanish Conquistador, Chinese, Taliban and many more before.

This heinous act is not a new thing in human history. This act is also known as Iconoclasm.

Iconoclasm is the destruction of religious icons and other images or monuments for religious or political motives. Over time, the word, usually in the adjectival form, has also come to refer to aggressive statements or actions against any well-established status quo. It is a frequent component of major political or religious changes. The term does not generally encompass the specific destruction of images of a ruler after his death or overthrow (damnatio memoriae).

After Julian, , known as Julian the Apostate, the Empire returned to Christian government. Christian rulers resumed the destruction of temples and cancelled the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple. By 380 Christianity was the only recognized religion in the Empire. As part of its campaign books were burned, works of art destroyed, families dispossessed, and temples desecrated. Ancient archaeological site in Nimrud had vanished from the face of the earth due to the ignorance of “Islamic State” which claimed, that this Ancient Archaeological Site of Nimrud had to be destroyed because of its unIslamic nature.

The Islamic State acts were very ignorant, and does not indicate the nature of Islam itself.

I, as a Muslim could not accept stupidity and ignorance that has been done by the Islamic State.

The ancient archaeological site is the result of human relics of ancient times and one of human history.

Woe to the next human generation because it will not have the opportunity to witness firsthand the evidence of civilization in Nimrud rather than sources such as books, images and some of the archaeological safely transferred to the museums in the United Kingdom.

Is destroying ancient archaeological site such as those at Nimrud will threatened the faith of Muslims?

I am sure that, it will not threatened my faith as a Muslim.

In fact, my faith grew. This is because these ancient archaeological sites are evidence of Allah left behind, to be studied by the human race.

The people of Hud – Hud was sent to ‘Ad. They deny the prophet-hood of Prophet Hud. Allah then brings fierce winds accompanied by the sound of thunder that boomed until they are buried in the sand and eventually perish.

Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And Allah would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.

The People of Lot – The people of Prophet Lot known for their deviant behavior, that only want to marry same-sex couples (gay and lesbian). Although he warned, they would not repent. Allah finally gave the Punishment on them, a great earthquake, strong winds and a rain of stones that destroyed their homes. And, the people of Prophet Lut was finally buried under the rubble of their own homes.

The Tubba’- Tubba’ is the name of a king to a nation called Himyarite who believe in Allah. However, his people ungrateful to Allah to transgressors. So Allah sent punishment on them to perish. They have a highly developed civilization at that time. One is a water retention system.

The verses of the Qur’an above are very important as a source of reference for us, in parallel with the development of technology, and more people are interested to venturing into the ancient archaeology.

Middle East or the “Near East” is a place where the birth of the Prophets. Agreed by three major religions Judaism, Christianity and Islam, as a place where humans first revealed to the world, namely, Prophet Adam.

Middle east, there are several ancient archaeological sites that show the world’s first civilizations such as Mesopotamia, where it is broken down by three modern countries such as Iraq, Syria and Kuwait, and bordering with Turkey and Iran.

Based on the theoretical results of Ancient Archaeological Site excavations collected by historians and researchers of ancient civilizations, it is believed that this place is the cradle of the world civilization.

This civilization is believed to exist around 3000 years BC, ie before the birth of the Gregorian calendar used by the rest of the world.

Mesopotamia is the place where the birth of a systematic government, the writing system, the system of classification societies, agriculture and animal husbandry, public buildings and architectural monuments as well as the skills to create objects using science and technology, namely metallurgy.

In addition to the importance of this ancient archaeological site as a source to improve our faith according to one religion, this is historical evidence of the existence of civilization before us.

History is not what we create in one day.
