What is a BIOS? The BIOS can be considered the "startup" software for your PC. It controls several important functions, like input/output, and without it your PC will not run. A bios upgrade can be advantageous if you experience device compatibility problems, or other more general non-tracable errors. When everything seems to cause problems on your computer, think of a BIOS upgrade. To find the program (or ROM memory CHIP on older systems) which can upgrade your bios, you usually need to know which motherboard is inside your computer. A ROM memory chip you have to buy, but most newer systems allow you to update the BIOS automatically after running a small program you can download freely. | |
