What is a driver? A driver is a program or dll that controls a device, e.g. a printer, CD-writer, keyboard or a soundcard. If your system does not contain the correct driver for a device, the device will not function at all, incorrectly or your computer might crash. Downloading the correct driver might solve the problem.
